Clynelish

Clynelish 14

Brora · Highlands

Clynelish

Clynelish is an anglicised version of the Gaelic for “green pasture”. And, though it’s a coastal whisky, this is fitting for a Scotch with sweet floral fragrances and verdant flavour notes. It’s a name with a long history, one that predates the distillery we know today, but which has adorned the labels of whisky bottles for two hundred years.

Built in 1819 on farmland belonging to the Marquess of Stafford (later the Duke of Sutherland), life here was a virtuous circle. The local mine provided coal to heat the stills while spent grains from the distillery fed local livestock. Their manure improved the quality of the land, where the barley was grown.

Now also known as the regional home of Johnnie Walker, the distillery continues its legacy of crafting exceptional drams to this day.

Balblair

Balblair 17

Dornoch Firth · Highlands

Balblair

As the quintessential distillery, Balblair sits on a remote and unspoiled hillside overlooking the Dornoch Firth in the North of Scotland. Our whiskies are the embodiment of everything we stand for. We use only the finest ingredients and traditional processes to craft our distinctive, characterful whisky.

From Black Isle barley to the open lade water that flows down the Edderton Hills capturing natural local flavour, this shapes our outstandingly light, yet complex spirit created in our original squat neck pot stills.

Our single malt is the product of the patience and dedication of our hands-on craftspeople, who won’t settle for anything than the best for Balblair. We are never rushed and never compromised. From the exceptionally long 62 hour fermentation and the 4 ½ hours of extremely slow distillation, it is this measured and thoughtful approach which means we can harness time to create the flavour of our unique new make spirit.

Tomatin

Tomatin 125th Anniversary

Monadhliath Mountains · Highlands

Tomatin

The origins of whisky production in Tomatin are hard to be precise about – prior to the opening of the formal distillery which operates today, there is reason to believe that whisky production, albeit illegal, has been an important part of life in the area around Tomatin since the 1700s.

Following the Second World War, demand for Scotch whisky boomed globally. To meet this demand new distilleries were built, closed distilleries reopened and established distilleries expanded, but nobody expanded to the same scale of Tomatin. By 1974 Tomatin had 23 stills capable of producing 12.5 million litres of alcohol per year, making it the largest malt distillery in the world.

Ardmore

Cadenhead Ardmore

Independent bottling · Aberdeenshire

Ardmore

The Ardmore distillery sits at the highest point of the Northern railway line, 600 feet above sea level. Close to the small village of Kennethmont, the proximity to the railway line allowed founder Adam Teacher to transport materials from Glasgow to this remote corner of Aberdeenshire, helping the distillery flourish.

Almost unchanged from the moment he made his dream a reality, the water is still drawn from the naturally rising springs that sit on the 1,500 foot tall Knockandy Hill.

Guided by the majestic golden eagle that glides high above the distillery as protector and protagonist, The Ardmore® is a peated single malt whisky shaped by its deep rooted connection to the land, people and wildlife of its Scottish home.
